Cherenkov Telescope Array will test whether pulsars generate the Galactic Center gamma-ray excess

چکیده
The GeV-scale gamma-ray excess observed from the region surrounding Galactic Center has been interpreted as either products of annihilating dark matter particles, or emission a large population faint and centrally-located millisecond pulsars. If pulsars are responsible for this signal, they should also produce detectable levels TeV-scale emission. In study, we employ template-based analysis simulated data in an effort to assess ability Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) detect constrain presence emission, providing new powerful means testing whether excess. We find that after even relatively brief observation Inner Galaxy, CTA will be able definitively rule out source Gamma-Ray Excess.

Gamma-Ray Excess from the Galactic Center and Supergravity Models
We analyse the effect of the compression of the dark matter due to the infall of baryons to the galactic center on the gamma-ray flux. In addition, we also consider the effect of non-universal supersymmetric soft terms. This analysis shows that neutralino dark matter annihilation can give rise to signals largely reachable by future experiments like GLAST. This is a remarkable result if we reali...

متن کاملThe MAGIC Cherenkov Telescope for gamma ray astronomy
The Major Atmospheric Gamma ray Imaging Cherenkov Telescope (MAGIC) is in commissioning phase and will start to become fully operative by the end of 2003. Located at El Roque de los Muchachos in La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain), it has the largest reflector area (17 m diameter) of all the existing Cherenkov telescopes. New technologies have been used to reduce the energy threshold for gamma-ray...
متن کاملGalactic Center gamma - ray “ excess ” from an active past of the Galactic Centre ?
Several groups have recently claimed evidence for an unaccounted gamma-ray excess over the diffuse backgrounds at few GeV in the Fermi-LAT data in a region around the Galactic Center, consistent with a dark matter annihilation origin. We demonstrate that the main spectral and angular features of this excess can be reproduced if they are mostly due to inverse Compton emission from high-energy el...
متن کاملVery High Energy Gamma-ray Observations of the Galactic Center with the CANGAROO-II telescope
The Galactic Center has been observed with the CANGAROO-II atmospheric Cherenkov telescope in 2001 and 2002. We have analyzed the data with a likelihood method to discriminate gamma-ray events from background cosmicray events using image parameters. The details of the analysis method and the preliminary results are presented.
